Council has twenty-seven (27) community housing units. They are all one bedroom units, with a few being suitable for couples.
The units are in Kennedy Crescent, Waimate, within walking distance to the shops for most residents. They are warm, safe and secure homes for eligible people who require housing support.
All units are heated by a heat pump, have a small garden plot and a covered veranda area.
Unit tenancy is managed by real estate agency LJ Hooker. The units are inspected routinely to ensure that maintenance is kept up to date.
Who is eligible for a unit?
Priority is given to superannuitants and people with medical conditions, where they would benefit from being able to access this type of housing. Medical applications require a supporting letter of recommendation from their GP.
