Remuneration
The Remuneration Authority determines triennially the salaries for the Mayor and the remuneration pool for Councillors. At the start of each triennium the new Council will make a recommendation on the allocation of the remuneration pool for approval by the Remuneration Authority.
As at 19 December 2022, notified in the New Zealand Gazette on 22 December 2022, the remuneration for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors is as follows:
Mayor | $104,302 (as at 14 October 2022) |
Deputy Mayor | $42,247 (as at 26 October 2022) |
Councillor | $28,165 (as at 15 October 2022) |
Allowances and Expenses
The Remuneration Authority also approves the allowances able to be paid to elected members.
The Elected Members Expenditure & Reimbursement Policy provides a financial and behavioural framework for remuneration, allowances, expenditures, and resources available to elected members during their term of office.
