Community help needed for local roads
Roads are an integral part of our district - they help us move from place to place, they support our local economy, and they connect us.
But they need to work well and we need the help of the community to achieve this.
In recent weeks we've experienced heavy rain and flooding, resulting in damaged roads. We do our best to stay on top of the damage but we're a small team and need the help of locals to tell us when they see damaged roads.
Don't hesitate to contact us - we're available 24/7. Call us on +64 3 689 0000 for urgent matters. For non-urgent matters email us at roading@waimatedc.govt.nz, drop us a line through our website here or let us know through our Facebook page.
Once we know about a problem we'll take necessary steps. That could be putting up suitable signs until repairs are made, we may need to temporarily close the road. Sometimes the repairs will be made immediately and other times they'll be made a little later - it will depend on the priority.
What's important to everyone is that our roads are safe to travel on so if you see something that needs fixing, please let us know.
