The ‘Matariki in Waimate’ event, held on 6 July, was a joint initiative between Council and Te Rūnanga o Waihao.
It began with an early morning Hautapu ceremony and breakfast at the White Horse Monument, followed by a special edition of the Waimate Community Market with Te Reo Māori and flax weaving workshops – and finished with an outdoor screening of Frozen in Te Reo Māori.
Mayor Craig Rowley said he was pleased so many people took the opportunity to get involved in our most recent edition to the school holiday calendar.
