Payment Options
There are a number of ways of paying your rates and dog registration with Council - cash, EFTPOS, direct debit and online payment (see below).

Note: Credit card payments only. We charge a service fee of 2.5 per cent with a minimum fee of $1 for this service. Waimate District Council does not retain any part of this fee.
Online Transactions Terms & Conditions
Waimate District Council Online Transaction Processing Services Terms and Conditions
Waimate District Council (Council) Online Transaction Processing Services offers certain transactions to be done through the Council's website. All such transactions are subject to these terms and conditions as well as Waimate District Council Website Terms and Conditions which are incorporated herein by reference. The Council may vary these terms and conditions from time to time without notification and it is your responsibility to ensure that you are familiar with them.
Legal Entity
Waimate District Council is a territorial local body government by the Local Government Act 2002 and is domiciled in New Zealand. The name that will appear on your statement will be Waimate District Council.
Use of Online Transactions
Waimate District Council makes online transactions available for your personal and/or internal business purposes. You may use information provided to you through your online transactions solely for your personal and/or internal business purposes, provided that you do not remove any proprietary rights notices, do not modify the information or make it available to third parties through a networked computer environment and do not make any additional representations or warranties regarding the information.
Information and Privacy
You hereby authorise Waimate District Council to receive and collect information about you (including information about your online transactions) from time to time through the Waimate District Council website. Any such information collected shall be treated in accordance with the Waimate District Council Privacy Policy. Waimate District Council may disclose information about you (including your identity) to a third party if Waimate District Council is requested to do so in the course of a criminal or other legal investigation, or if Waimate District Council determines that disclosure is necessary in connection with any complaint regarding your use of the site.
Confidentiality
Certain documents can be made confidential and a request can be made for the same. The final discretion for making the document confidential lies with Waimate District Council. Further details can be obtained by contacting Waimate District Council.
Direct Debit
For many people, paying by direct debit is a convenient way to pay rates. Paying by direct debit is a low risk method of payment and will ensure that your rates will not attract late payment penalties. You still have full control over your account/s.

By completing an Easy Pay Direct Debit Form you can nominate how often you wish to pay your rates and we'll take care of the rest!
Monthly Payments
On or around the 20th of every month the monthly apportionment of your annual rates balance will be automatically deducted from your nominated bank account.
Quarterly Payments
On the due date of every quarter, the balance owing will be automatically deducted from your nominated bank account.

These methods of payment enable you to pay your rates from the comfort of your home.
Rates Instalment Dates
The rating year begins on 1 July and ends on 30 June. The rating year is divided into four equal instalments, each invoiced separately. You can choose to pay your rates that suit your personal circumstances either weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly.
With your first invoice for the year (July), you will receive a Rates Assessment Notice. It provides a comprehensive breakdown of the rates levied for the current year. For an overview of where your rates are spent click here.
