Rates Rebates
You may be entitled to a Rates Rebate. More detailed information, including scheme requirements, eligibility criteria and income eligibility can be found here.
The purpose of the scheme is to provide a subsidy to low income homeowners on the costs of their rates. Ratepayers who are eligible for a rebate can get up to $790 off their rates bill.
In order to be eligible you must meet these requirements:
- You must be the legal ratepayer for the property and you must be living in your home.
- You must declare and provide satisfactory proof of your income (if you are living with a partner or are a joint homeowner their income must also be included).
- You must provide an IRD Summary of Earnings for the year ended 31 March 2024.
The amount of Rebate that you receive depends on your and your Partner/joint homeowners total income, how much your rates are and whether you have any dependents. Ratepayers who are eligible for a Rates Rebate will have the rebate credited to their Rates Account.
