Proposal to Close Road to Vehicular Traffic

Pursuant to the Local Government Act 1974 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Waimate District Council for the purpose of permitting Waimate 50 Motorsport Inc. to hold the Waimate Street Sprints R2 will close the following roads to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period indicated hereunder. Any person wishing to object to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of their objection and ground thereof, in writing, by Thursday 1 May 2025 at Council reception, 125 Queen Street, Waimate or email roading@waimatedc.govt.nz
The schedule for proposed road closures is as follows:
Saturday 24 May to Sunday 25 May – Waimate Street Sprints R2
- Goldsmith Street from John Street to Paul Street
- Victoria Terrace and Wilkin Street from Queen Street to Michael Street
- John Street from New World entrance to Town and Country Club driveway
- Paul Street from Event Centre entrance to William Street
The closure will be in effect from 9am on Saturday 24 May to 9pm on Sunday 25 May, speed restrictions will be in place from May 17 for set up.
