Armistice Day - Animal Welfare
Animal welfare
During the Armistice Day commemorations on Sunday 11 November from 9am to 12pm there will be canon and gun fire as well as other loud sounds. This has the potential to be very upsetting and unsettling for animals.
Please take extra precautions to prevent stock from being harmed, breaking through fences and endangering themselves and others.
Pets
If possible, keep your pets inside.
At all times, please ensure your dog is wearing its collar and current 2018/19 registration tag.
If your dog accidentally escapes, call Council on
03 689 0000 immediately and Animal Control staff will attempt to capture it and reunite it without you incurring any charges (strictly between 9am and 12pm on Sunday 11 November).
NB: If Animal Control staff have already captured your dog we cannot reunite it with you until you have called us.
