Waimate District Council building consent process to move online
Waimate District Council is moving its building application processing online with the introduction of a new web portal which will simplify and streamline the building consent process.
Simpli, in conjunction with Council’s Go-Get processing system, is an online lodgement portal for building consents that allows applicants to submit, manage and track their consents from lodging the application through to issuing of the Code of Compliance Certificate.
The online process is easy to use and navigate with a simple registration system that takes the applicant through to a step by step submission form that retains property details, trades service details, a description of the building works and a facility for uploading all required documentation such as designs, plans and specifications.
Once the form has been submitted, the application is vetted for completeness and if accepted, a building consent number is generated, initiated for processing and an invoice eventually generated and sent to the applicant via the portal. The building consent documentation is sent to the applicant through the portal once payment is received.
Nine other councils across New Zealand have already adopted the Simpli portal system which has improved performance, consistency and service delivery across building regulatory services.
Waimate District Council Regulatory and Compliance Group Manager Paul Cooper said the new portal system would greatly improve Council’s efficiency and serviceability.
“We’re very pleased to be bringing this new service platform to Waimate to ensure a better processing system that is easier and more straightforward for both applicants and Council,” he says.
Waimate District Council’s new online portal will be available to access on our website on Wednesday 11 December 2019.
