BUILDING CONTROL AT LEVEL 3 FROM 28 APRIL 2020
BUILDING - The Building Unit can undertake a wider range of tasks.
- All building consent processing is being undertaken remotely at this time.
- Building Consent applications being lodged will have to be lodged through the Simpli Portal, https://simpli.govt.nz/ . Help is available to assist if you have problems, the contact number is 03 689 0000 or 03 689 0055 and speak to Diane Robertson.
- Inspections can take place from 29 April, these may be virtual and you will have to answer safety questions.
- Cancelled inspections can now be rebooked.
Under Level 3 the building unit is able to accept, process and approve, inspect and issue Code Compliance Certificates for all building consents as all of our staff have the ability to either work remotely or from the council office.

Please refrain from submitting any applications or other documentation in hard copy form as this is proving difficult to manage remotely. Any other forms or notifications can be emailed to buildingcontrol@waimatedc.govt.nz
As of Wednesday 29 April inspections can be carried out. These can be performed either in person (as normal) or if required virtually but this will have to be discussed with the Stu Chapman, BCA Manager before the inspection in booked in.
As we are trying to limit the risks to the inspection staff, if there are any specific site issues that we need to be aware of that may impact on the inspection these need to be discussed with Stu Chapman, BCA Manager before the inspection in booked in.
All inspections are to be booked in the usual way, by calling the Council office on 03 689 0000 or 03 689 0055 and speak to Diane Robertson.
You will be asked some additional questions before the inspection will be booked. These are to ensure the inspection can be carried out safely.
