All Council roads throughout the Waimate District are clear and open. There are some roads that have minor scouring on them, so please drive with caution at all times.
FORDS
With the flood waters now subsiding, all fords are again passable, and have now reopened to traffic. However, the section from Centrewood Park Road to Mill Road will remain closed for at least another week to allow repairs to be carried out.
SH82 (KUROW TO IKAWAI)
Work to repair the washout on SH82 continues, with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advising motorists to avoid the area, or delay your journey where possible. This road remains closed.

WAIMATE DISTRICT LIBRARY
During the flooding, the Library has also experienced significant flood damage and will remain closed through to Monday January 18. At this point, we will then reassess the situation and advise members accordingly.
During this time, please take note of the following points:
HOLD ON TO YOUR BOOKS
If you are due to return your library books soon, please refrain from doing so and hold on to them.
As the Library experiences significant disruption in the coming days, holding on to your book or renewing them online will be a great help to our staff. You can also contact the Library by phone on (03) 689 0071. Note, there will be no penalties associated with overdue returns.
RENEWALS
If you're wanting to renew your books, you will still able to renew your library books online, or by phoning the Library to discuss further. The E-Library will also be accessible and will allow you to access a wide range of e-books and audio books for your continued entertainment. Simply login online, explore and enjoy.
WI-FI ACCESS
Unfortunately, we are unable to supply access to computers at present, however you are welcome to use your own device outside the Library 24/7. The public Wi-Fi will continue to be operational and active throughout the Library closure.
NEIGHBOURING LIBRARIES
If you are needing books to read right now and you simply cannot wait, you will be welcome at the Oamaru and Timaru libraries respectively.
Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
BOIL WATER NOTICE - WAIKAKAHI RURAL WATER SCHEME
All consumers on the Waikakahi Rural Water Scheme are reminded to continue to boil all drinking water - at all times.
A recent monitoring sample has shown low levels of chlorine in the treated water. This has resulted in an E.coli transgression and is attributed to the recent rain event. Council advises a rolling boil of at least a minute for all water used for drinking, food preparation, and personal use, such as cleaning teeth.
Please also inform all staff, tenants and holiday visitors on your property of this reminder.
For more on this, please visit Alerts>Water; https://www.waimatedc.govt.nz/council
ROAD CLOSURES
All Council roads throughout the Waimate District are clear and open,
All fords remain closed until further notice.
Please be advised, due to significant rainfall, Parkers Bush Road and Centrewood Park Road (to the White Horse) are also closed to all vehicle and public access until further notice.
Flooding is still posing risk on SH83, near Kurow, with a detour route in place via Te Akatarawa Road. Please exercise caution, drive to the conditions and follow the signage.
Work is now underway to repair the washout on SH82, with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advising motorists to avoid the area, or delay your journey where possible.
