Cheque This Out
As of May 2021, the Waimate District Council can no longer accept cheques as a form of payment.
As you have likely heard, New Zealand’s major banks have announced their firm intention to phase cheques out and here at Council, the time has come for us to join this movement. We understand many of you will still have cheque books, therefore we are providing as much notice as possible to help you get prepared and set-up with alternative payment options.
From May this year, (17 May to be exact), in line with the bank’s nationwide changes, Council can no longer accept cheques for any Council-related services.
Our preferred payment option for rates will be direct debit, and if you haven’t already, we encourage you to work with our staff to get this set up. Simply fill out the form, set and forget.
Forms are available from the Council office at 125 Queen Street, Waimate, or by clicking HERE
Accepted payment options include EFTPOS, Direct Debit, Internet Banking and Cash.
Thank you for your patience, support and understanding as we implement this important change moving forward.
