Temporary Halt on Glass Collection during Alert Level 4
With the alert level 4 lockdown extended nationwide through to 11.59pm on Friday 27 August 2021, our waste management contractor EnviroWaste have advised they will not be collecting glass recycling at this time.
With the Delta variant known to be much more transmissible from the first round of COVID-19, and potentially carried through saliva residue, the decision has been made to protect their employees from any unnecessary exposure or risk – effective from Wednesday 25 August onwards.
While this may be inconvenient to some, Council fully support and endorse this measure. Therefore, we ask that residents hold onto their glass crates until next week, with glass collection safely resuming at alert level 3 or lower.
All other kerbside rubbish and recycling will continue as normal, therefore please ensure your bins are out on your collection day prior to 7am.
To be clear, no blue crates will be collected during alert level 4.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding on this matter.
