Council Adopts 2022/23 Annual Plan
Council has officially adopted the 2022/23 Annual Plan, confirming an overall rates revenue increase of 9.9% in the coming year. The Annual Plan was unanimously approved at Tuesday's (28 June) Council Meeting, continuing the direction previously set by the 2021-31 Long Term Plan (LTP).
Major projects set to get underway in the next 12 months include water supply projects in Glenavy, Otaio, Makikihi, Waihaorunga, urban water main renewals and various Downlands renewals, as well as a range of roading activity such as resealing, kerb and channel renewal, sign renewals, footpath renewals, culvert replacements and minor improvements throughout identified areas within the district.
Other projects to commence include the Waimate District Library extension, upgrades to the Council Chambers and installation of new public toilets on Queen Street. The plan also has a focus on addressing ongoing challenges facing the local government sector such as climate change, Three Waters Reform Programme and the Future for Local Government, among others.
