Leadership Team
The Local Government Act 2002 requires the Council to appoint a Chief Executive whose responsibilities are to employ staff on behalf of the Council, to implement Council decisions and provide advice to the Council.
The Chief Executive and six managers constitute the Leadership Team and provide the link between elected members and staff.
The Chief Executive is the only person who may lawfully give instructions to a staff member. Any complaint about individual staff members should therefore be directed to the Chief Executive, rather than the Mayor and Councillors.
