Alterations to existing buildings
As a Building Control Authority, Council can issue a building consent for alterations to an existing building as long as the building will comply with the building code (as reasonably as practicable) that relate to:
- means of escape from fire
- access and facilities for the disabled
The alterations must also comply with the other provisions of the building code to at least the same extent as before the alterations were made.
