Decisions

When making the final decisions on this Long Term Plan, Council considered all submissions, technical reports from staff and feedback received through several Community Chat Sessions held throughout the district during the consultation period. In reaching our decision, Council based its reasoning on achieving the best outcomes for the Waimate District and the communities that lie within.

What's the Long Term Plan?

The Long Term Plan, or LTP for short, is a detailed planning document prepared every three years by Council. Within the LTP, we set out Council’s direction for all significant activities and outline a plan for the next 10 years. The plan will detail how we plan to pay for key projects, how we plan to manage all of our assets and infrastructure and how we intend to achieve our vision and community wellbeing.

How does the LTP affect me?

Essentially, whether you are a ratepayer or not, the LTP affects us all.

Whether it’s water supply, sewage treatment, rubbish and recycling, roads, footpaths, parks and reserves, the Library, building control or animal management – to name just a few, it’s about working together to achieve common ground and deliver on what’s best for the wider district and the communities that reside within.

What's next?

Now submissions have closed, we will consider all your feedback and Council will then make decisions on the key issue and other matters raised throughout the submission period.

Council's Submission Hearing will take place on Tuesday 27 July 2021.

Council will adopt the Long Term Plan 2021-2031 on or before 31 August 2021.
