Inspection results

If the work passes

Council's Building Control Officer will advise the person on-site if the inspection has been passed which will then be recorded on Council’s Field Inspection Sheet.

What happens if the work fails the inspection?

Council will notify you what work needs to be done. Once that work has been completed another inspection may be required. If this is the case, a re-inspection fee will be charged. This will need to be paid before the Code Compliance Certificate is issued.

Notice To Fix

In some cases a Notice to Fix may be issued.

This is a formal notice issued by Council, advising that certain work has not been carried out in accordance with the building consent or Building Code.

If issued, Council will also give a letter explaining the process. A fee will be charged for the Notice to Fix.

If a Notice to Fix is issued, you are required to address the issues identified within a prescribed timeframe, to prevent further action being taken.

Amendments and Variations

It is not uncommon for changes to be made during the construction process.

If you are changing things from the consented documents, you must talk to Council before the change is made to agree on the process which needs to be followed.

These changes can be recorded by way of minor variation or formal amendment applied for. Amendments may incur a charge and need to be paid before the Code Compliance Certificate can be issued.
