Vegetation growing on private properties but is encroaching over footpaths and roads can cause obstructions, can be a hazard, and can impede visibility for motorists.
A clear zone must be maintained between the property boundary, the footpath and the road. See the diagram below.
Council may fix damage to footpaths and roads caused by obstructions such as tree roots, however, the landowner could be liable for any costs incurred.
